La Costa del Sol has 11 marinas; 60% of the
marinas of the Andalusian coast are concentrated in 100 km. It´s
capital, Málaga. It´s ancient history springs from
the sea, from the first navigators, who arrived to its coast
from the Orient Mediterranean more than two thousand years ago.
In a few minutes, you can go for a walk from the port of the
city of Málaga to its Roman theater and go along La Alcazaba,
a great muslim fortress; you can as well admire the Renaissance
Cathedral and visit the recently inaugurated Picasso museum.
Distance from the base marina: 9 miles. Our base marina, Benalmádena.
With almost 1000 mooring points, its islands and luxurious architecture
reported to it in 1995 the international prize to the best marina
of the world. The excellent location of our dockage allows to
enjoy the important leisure supply of the marina, including its
lively night life, as well as the possibility to solely sleep
listening to the clinking of the sailboat rigging.
The
marinas of Marbella. Of its three marinas, the main one, Puerto Banús,
is one of the most well-known in Europe and the gathering place for the jet-set
during the summer time. It has boutiques and jewellery shops of international
reference. Distance from the base marina: 25 miles.
Natural sites and parks. Leaving Benalmádena towards the East, we find
the natural site of Maro Cliffs (Cerro Gordo) at about 30 miles. The limit
between Málaga and Granada is between Nerja and La Herradura, and in
its eastern limit, exists a quiet small marina called Marina del Este. About
60 miles away, we can visit the natural park Cabo de Gata - Níjar. We
will find in both places precious coves flanked by steep cliffs which make
land approach impossible, as well as incredibly transparent water perfect to
practice snorkel. Also at 60 miles from Marina del Este sailing out to sea,
is the natural park of Isla de Alborán.
Gibraltar
Streits. If sailing towards the East we find natural parks and places,
maintaining course to the West we pass by Fuengirola, Marbella, Estepona
and Sotogrande to reach the Gibraltar Streits, one of the best zones to
sight cetaceans. Once we are there, we can spend a night in Morocco, berthed
in Marinasmir, a safe and modern port. If you love fishing, you won´t
have to worry about the licence, since the boat has a collective one for
12 people. We are equipped with fishing rods and tackel for currican and
bottom fishing, in addition, we know wher the best marks are.
